Explore a scenic, family-friendly route through a historic estate, featuring traditional Mallorcan engineering, lush forests, and Mediterranean flora and fauna.
This circular route, which is easy to follow and suitable for families, runs entirely through the Galatzó Public Estate in Es Capdellà, combining scenic views with historical and ethnographic heritage. The route begins at the estate houses and crosses the Comellar de na Llaneres to reach the Sa Cometa spring, a fine example of traditional Mallorcan hydraulic engineering, in use since Islamic times. Its water was channelled through qanats and tunnels to the estate houses, supplying them until the 19th century. During the walk, which takes just over an hour, you will pass through marjades and farmland, holm oak and pine forests, whilst discovering ethnographic features such as lime kilns, charcoal pits and fountains. You can also observe the Mediterranean flora and fauna typical of the area. The route ends by returning through the Bosc de Sa Madona, completing a walk that combines nature, history and cultural heritage.
