Hiking Route Map 2
Des Tramuntanal Cottage (R2 - 018)
Experience a rustic retreat where the open-air lifestyle of shepherds once thrived, amidst a landscape shaped by livestock and nature's elements.
The landscape was traversed with the livestock… in solitude
These huts were not merely shelters. They were part of a life lived in the open air.
The shepherds moved with the flock, seeking pasture and water. They lived with the livestock, often alone, in an open and demanding landscape.
The smell of the animals, the constant sound of cowbells, the wind, the winter cold or the midday heat marked the daily routine. Above, a vulture circled in the sky. Shepherds and animals shared the day.
It was not an easy life.
But this is also how the land was maintained. The passage of the livestock cleared the undergrowth, opened up spaces and shaped the landscape.
And today… how do we look after the livestock that feeds us?
